A tragic squid jigging trip off Kuala Terengganu resulted in one fatality, three injuries, and eight rescues when a boat capsized approximately nine nautical miles from Dataran Kuala Nerus around 9 PM last night. The deceased, identified as 37-year-old crew member Ahmad Nasaruddin Mohmad Jalil, was among 10 individuals on board. The injured participants were identified as Faris Ibrahim, 24; Ahmad Danial Iman, 24; and Fatin Fariesya Rohaizan, 26. The boat operator, Mohd Awais Sa’ari, reported that the incident occurred suddenly due to a large influx of water into the engine on a rough sea. The group was adrift for about 30 to 40 minutes before assistance arrived and were taken to Tok Batin Jetty, Kuala Nerus.
