Jason Arday, who made history as Cambridge University's youngest Black professor, resigned on Wednesday after weeks of mounting accusations of plagiarism and fabrications in his biography. Arday, who joined Cambridge in 2023 at age 37, became a high-profile academic after sharing an extraordinary life story of being autistic and dyslexic, not speaking until age 11, and not reading or writing until 18. In his resignation statement, Arday said the "relentless accusations, speculation and public commentary have taken a profound toll on me and on those I love," but emphasized his resignation should not "be mistaken for an acceptance of the narratives that have surrounded me."
