Streit um Druschba-Pipeline Ukraine wirft Ungarn und Slowakei Erpressung vor 22.02.2026

Ukraine has sharply condemned threats from Hungary and Slovakia regarding energy supplies, accusing the two EU nations of blackmail and provocation. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrij Sybiha stated that threatening to cut off electricity to Ukraine, which is heavily reliant on these supplies due to Russian attacks on its infrastructure, is irresponsible and endangers regional energy security. This dispute centers on the Druzhba oil pipeline, with oil flows halted since January 27. Ukraine attributes the disruption to damage from a Russian drone attack on a pumping station, while Hungary and Slovakia blame Ukraine. Both countries are considering activating the EU's early warning mechanism and have warned of cutting off emergency power supplies, which constitute about half of Europe's emergency power to Ukraine.
