Studie: Generation Z sieht sich finanziell bessergestellt – Babyboomer deutlich pessimistischer 23.02.2026

A recent study by TeamBank, based on a survey conducted by YouGov in September 2025 involving 3100 individuals in Germany, reveals a stark contrast in financial outlook between generations. While the financial situation for many Germans remains stagnant or has worsened, Generation Z (18-29 year olds) exhibits significantly more optimism about their future financial well-being compared to older demographics. Specifically, 36 percent of young Germans reported an improvement in their financial situation over the past twelve months, a sentiment shared by only 11 percent of those aged 50-79. Looking ahead, only 10 percent of those under 30 anticipate financial deterioration in the next three to five years, while 41 percent of the 50-plus generation hold this pessimistic view. Despite Baby Boomers being the wealthiest generation historically, they express a much more negative outlook, with 41 percent expecting their financial situation to worsen, contrasting with the 68 percent of Generation Z expecting positive financial developments.
