Studying Abroad: Tunisian Transfers Surge by Nearly 30% in One Year 07.07.2026

According to the annual report from the Central Bank of Tunisia presented by its governor, Fethi Zouhair Nouri, financial transfers for studies and internships abroad surged by nearly 30% in 2025. These expenditures reached 658 million dinars, compared to 507.3 million in 2024, widening the educational services balance deficit to 494.7 million dinars. Currently, more than 30,000 Tunisian students are studying outside the country, with France remaining the primary destination and Germany the second with 7,000 students. This overall increase in personal travel expenditures, amounting to 2.779 billion dinars, is also influenced by pilgrimage costs. To support these students, the BCT revised its allowances in September 2025, increasing the monthly allowance from 3,000 to 4,000 dinars and the settlement allowance from 4,000 to 6,000 dinars.
