Suliman Carrim hospitalised, Madlanga Commission confirms he might miss his testimony 14.04.2026

North West businessman Suliman Carrim has been hospitalised at Netcare Milpark Hospital in Johannesburg after reportedly suffering a heart attack on Monday, preventing him from testifying before the Madlanga Commission on Thursday as scheduled. His legal team informed the commission of his condition, and spokesperson Jeremy Michaels confirmed they are treating the situation with sensitivity but acknowledge his inability to appear. The commission, which is investigating allegations linked to a disputed R360 million SAPS tender involving Medicare24, will require a medical certificate to formalise Carrim's absence and is considering its next steps, including potentially withdrawing the subpoena. Carrim's evidence is considered crucial, particularly concerning accusations of attempting to influence Police Minister Senzo Mchunu regarding the tender.
