Summer holidays in Slovakia are increasingly deepening the divide between children. While some spend their time in camps, on vacations, and with parents, others are left to their own devices, often without a regular program. According to special educator Viktor Križ, how children spend their holidays is crucial, not just their mere presence. Experiences, the alternation of rest with activities, and time spent with friends are particularly important, as they help the brain consolidate learned skills. Conversely, excessive use of digital technologies—which, according to a survey, teenagers spend up to six hours a day on—worsens children's mental health and cognitive development.
