PRIME Teleposta pension stopped from selling Sh1bn Upper Hill land 07.07.2026

The Supreme Court of Kenya, led by Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu, has issued a conservatory injunction barring the Teleposta Pension Scheme Registered Trustees from selling, charging, or transferring a two-acre prime parcel of land in Nairobi's Upper Hill. Valued at approximately Sh1 billion, the property is currently the subject of an appeal by Intercountries Importers and Exporters Ltd, which claims lawful ownership via a public auction from Trust Bank. While the land was previously restored to the pension scheme by the Court of Appeal, the Supreme Court ruled that preserving the property is necessary to prevent irreparable harm to the appellant during the legal proceedings. This dispute highlights the scheme's significant liquidity challenges, as it has invested 83 percent of its Sh14.76 billion total assets in real estate, leaving it with only Sh7.1 million in cash.
