An indictment filed in Israel alleges that a Hamas operative residing in Cyprus was the architect of a thwarted terror plot involving two young men from East Jerusalem. The suspects, H.G. and A.R.H., both 21, are accused of planning to detonate an explosive at the Anatot military base near Jerusalem after studying bomb-making instructions. Authorities state H.G. acted on behalf of his relative in Cyprus, whom they identify as a Hamas operative, by conducting intelligence gathering, photographing military checkpoints, and providing hotel details, including information on Israeli Air Force cadets. The Cyprus-based operative allegedly inquired about a suicide bombing at the hotel, to which H.G. reportedly expressed willingness to carry out an attack himself with more preparation.
