Louise Arbour is set to be installed as Canada’s 31st Governor General on Monday, an event marked by several symbolic traditions. During the ceremony, she will receive the Great Seal of Canada, symbolizing the Crown's authority, which is then entrusted to the registrar general for safekeeping and use on state documents. Arbour will also take three distinct oaths: the Oath of Allegiance, the Oath of the Office of the Governor General and Commander-in-Chief of Canada, and the Oath of the Keeper of the Great Seal of Canada. The installation will be accompanied by a 21-gun salute from Parliament Hill and the playing of "God Save the King" by the Canadian Armed Forces Central Band, while the Governor General's flag, featuring the Arms of Canada, will be raised on the Peace Tower. Finally, the presentation of four collars of office will underscore her roles as chancellor of national orders and head of the Canadian Heraldic Authority.
