Taiwan is actively strengthening its position in key industries, including AI, semiconductors, quantum computing, critical minerals, and urban renewal. The nation's global AI ranking has significantly improved, with the digital economy now contributing approximately NT$2 trillion. Investments are being made in advanced semiconductor R&D in Hsinchu and in promoting self-sufficiency in materials and equipment, with an estimated NT$20 billion in additional output expected. A project to establish Taiwan's first shared quantum computing core infrastructure by 2030 is underway. Furthermore, Taiwan is enhancing cooperation with the US on critical minerals and aims to meet 50 percent of domestic demand within three years. Public construction spending reached an 18-year high of NT$813.7 billion last year, and urban renewal efforts are expanding to include an estimated 270,000 aging buildings.
