Taken kabinet-Jetten officieel verdeeld, eindverslag overhandigd 21.02.2026

The new cabinet, formed by D66, VVD, and CDA, officially convened for its constituting council meeting this morning, after which formateur Jetten submitted his final report to the Speaker of the House of Representatives. The distribution of ministerial portfolios proceeded smoothly, with prior agreements minimizing disputes. This minority cabinet comprises eighteen ministers and ten state secretaries. A notable change is the elimination of the "minister for" title, with all positions now designated "minister of," regardless of budget responsibility. The Ministry of Economic Affairs will now also encompass Climate, absorbing the former Ministry of Climate and Green Growth. State Secretary Aerdts (D66) will oversee digital affairs, and Minister Vijlbrief (D66) will handle social security reforms, including AOW age increases and WW/WIA benefit reductions. The cabinet will hold a "start council" meeting today to define its identity, followed by official swearing-in by King Willem-Alexander on Monday, February 23rd, and a media presentation that evening.
