On Tuesday, May 5, 2026, Tanzanian Water Minister Jumaa Aweso presented a Sh1.12 trillion budget to Parliament in Dodoma for the 2026/27 financial year. This strategic budget shifts the ministry’s focus toward national water security, economic growth, and sustainable service delivery. Key initiatives include completing the National Water Master Plan and developing a National Water Grid to connect major water sources. The government plans to construct or rehabilitate 33 dams, design 34 new ones, and drill 300 deep wells to mitigate climate impacts.
