A 59-year-old electrotechnician working for the Syndicat Mixte Eaux Confluences (SMEC) has died from injuries sustained during Storm Nils. The incident occurred in the early hours of February 12, 2026, near Castelsarrasin in Tarn-et-Garonne, when an uprooted tree fell onto his vehicle as he responded to an emergency power outage at the Castelsarrasin water production plant. He was initially hospitalized in serious condition at Montauban hospital and succumbed to his injuries on the night of Saturday to Sunday. The mayor of Castelsarrasin and president of SMEC conveyed his condolences to the victim's family.
