Taxi driver who drove over two people in Kulosaari released – no grounds for detention 03.07.2026

A taxi driver who drove over two people on Helsinki's Itäväylä road during the night between Monday and Tuesday was released on Friday morning. Police did not request the man's detention as there were no grounds for it. Lead investigator, Detective Chief Inspector Tuomas Lindholm, stated that there is no risk of the suspect continuing his activities or interfering with the preliminary investigation. The man was interrogated twice and has been cooperative.
