Taxpayers will help fund Independence Arch, or so-called "Arc de Trump" 09.04.2026

American taxpayers are slated to contribute to the construction of President Trump's proposed triumphal arch, dubbed "Independence Arch" or "Arc de Trump," in Arlington, Virginia. The National Endowment for the Humanities' spending plan, approved by the Office of Management and Budget in September, reserves $2 million in special initiative funds and $13 million in matching funds for the project. The president intends for the arch to commemorate the nation's 250th anniversary, envisioning it as the world's largest, surpassing France's Arc de Triomphe, and has displayed a model resembling it.
