Temeke Municipal Council in Dar es Salaam is implementing a plan to enhance safety by relocating traders from hazardous areas, particularly along the Tazama pipeline. This initiative involves constructing a modern, multi-storey market and a new bus stand, aiming to provide safer and officially designated spaces for traders. District Commissioner Sixtus Mapunda emphasized the goal of improving the business environment with safe infrastructure, with implementation already underway. The council has advertised a tender for a large market in Mbagala, designed to accommodate numerous petty traders and create economic opportunities. Despite existing facilities, some traders remain in unsafe zones due to customer habits, a challenge the new market near Chamazi aims to address.
