Teemu Selänne admits his mistake: "I struggled with pain for seven years" 05.07.2026

Hockey legend Teemu Selänne has spoken openly about his knee issues, admitting that he made a mistake by postponing knee replacement surgery. Selänne revealed that he suffered from intense pain for seven years, which significantly impacted his quality of life and mobility. He stated that walking was no longer enjoyable and that he had to resort to using a car just to get as close to his destinations as possible. Selänne had been waiting for new technology to be developed before undergoing the surgery, but ultimately had to take action when the pain became unbearable. Having turned 56 on Friday, Selänne has found a new lease on life following the surgery and has already been able to return to hobbies such as tennis, pickleball, and mountain biking. He emphasizes that movement is medicine and is now enjoying the ability to be active again without constant pain.
