Tram 26 is undergoing extensive testing today on its new route to IJburg's upcoming islands, including Strandeiland, as part of preparations for its public launch on May 3rd. GVB is conducting three test runs to verify the overhead lines and ensure clearance for the tram across Haveneiland, Centrumeiland, and Strandeiland. IJburg, which currently comprises six islands, is undergoing significant development with plans for 20,000 new homes to accommodate 50,000 residents. While Steigereiland, Rieteiland, and Haveneiland are nearing completion, Centrumeiland, Strandeiland, and Buiteneiland are still under development, though the first residents of Strandeiland received keys in early February.
