Thai navy denies border reopening claims 15.04.2026

The Royal Thai Navy (RTN) has officially denied widespread social media claims suggesting the reopening of Chanthaburi-Trat border crossings to Cambodia for humanitarian aid. Navy spokesman Rear Admiral Parach Rattanachaiyaphan stated on Wednesday that no such policy is in place and that border controls remain strictly enforced under national security laws. The RTN is actively tracing the source of these false reports, which risk public confusion and potential sentiment manipulation from across the border, and intends to pursue legal action. A navy source confirmed Cambodia has not officially requested a reopening, emphasizing that any proposal would require rigorous vetting through multiple governmental levels, with security being the paramount concern before any decision could be considered.
