A new study published in the journal Toxins has systematically debunked a long-standing myth that baby rattlesnakes are more venomous and dangerous than their adult counterparts. The research, led by biology professor William Hayes of Loma Linda University, traced the origins of this false claim to a 1936 interview with Roy Montgomery, owner of Florida's Reptile Leather company. The myth gained traction in the late 1960s and has been perpetuated by various authoritative sources, including park rangers, poison control pharmacists, and even a pediatric intensive care director at UC Davis Medical Center.
