Stephen King, the former executive director of the Victorian Health Building Authority, has revealed that the state Labor government improperly intervened in the redevelopment of a Victorian hospital. King, now retired, stated that he was pressured by the government to sack a plastering firm that had drawn the disapproval of the Construction, Forestry, Maritime, Mining and Energy Union (CFMEU). This intervention occurred on a taxpayer-funded project, raising concerns about political influence and union power in public infrastructure.
