The "Liangprasit" Political Dynasty: Controlling Satun Province from Uncle to Nephew 07.07.2026

Thairath Online

The "Liangprasit" family is facing a major political storm after the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) resolved to indict Mr. Samrit Liangprasit, President of the Satun Provincial Administrative Organization (PAO), for failing to terminate a construction contract for a tourist service center in Khuan Don District. The project, valued at 29.8 million baht, resulted in fines amounting to 58.1 million baht. It was discovered that Mr. Somkiat Liangprasit, Mr. Samrit's brother, is a partner in the contracting company and is the father of Mr. Worrasit Liangprasit, the Deputy Minister of the Interior. This family wields significant influence in Satun Province; Mr. Samrit has served as the Satun PAO President for five terms, while Mr. Worrasit has secured the Satun Constituency 2 MP seat for three terms under the Bhumjaithai Party, supported by a strong local base established by Mr. Somkiat, a major fishery businessman in the area.
