Meeting on July 8, the police college officially validated the creation of the 'Brussels Police' and its voting method, which is proportional to financial allocations. This structure grants a 63% hegemony of votes to the Socialist Party (PS), with Philippe Close (PS, Mayor of Brussels) in the lead. The City of Brussels, with an allocation of 135 million euros, obtains 30 out of 100 votes, while Schaerbeek obtains 11 for 50 million. In contrast, municipalities such as Watermael-Boitsfort or Koekelberg have only a single vote. The balance of power will shift further in January 2028 with the arrival of Hasan Koyuncu (PS) as Mayor of Schaerbeek, bringing the Socialist grip to 74% and relegating the MR to 8%.
