The Obama Presidential Center has a museum, a basketball court, a fountain honoring his mom and more: Here's everything we know 23h ago

The Obama Presidential Center in Chicago, a museum, community hub, and public space, is set to open its doors to the public on June 19, 2026, with a VIP dedication ceremony the day prior. After more than nine years in development and significant cost increases from an initial $500 million to approximately $850 million, the 19.3-acre campus will feature a museum detailing Barack and Michelle Obama's lives and administration, a branch of the Chicago Public Library, a playground, gardens, and a water terrace named after Obama's mother. Tickets for the museum, designed by Tod Williams and Billie Tsien with a distinctive brutalist architecture, are $30 for timed entry and are largely sold out for June, while access to the rest of the campus is free. The project faced delays due to federal reviews and local concerns, and its unique architecture has drawn mixed reactions, with Obama intending it to be seen as an art piece.
