‘The settlers brought the violence’: the ethnic cleansing of a West Bank village 14.01.2026

The Bedouin village of Ras ‘Ein al ‘Auja in the occupied West Bank is undergoing ethnic cleansing, forcing its 135 families to flee due to escalating settler violence. This campaign, intensified since the Gaza war, involves arson, theft, intimidation, and property destruction, orchestrated by Israeli settlers, including minors from state-supported outposts. Settlers now control over 250 sq km of land in the region, previously used for Bedouin grazing. This displacement aligns with the long-standing "Allon plan" aiming for Israeli control of a Jordan Valley strip. Despite international condemnation and sanctions on some settlers, the forced displacement continues with alleged government complicity, leaving Palestinians without protection and facing significant financial burdens to relocate.
