Thirteen arrested in joint Scotland and Spain gangland raids 2d ago

A two-year joint investigation by Scotland and Spain, coordinated by the UK's National Crime Agency (NCA), has resulted in 13 arrests in pre-dawn raids targeting alleged members of Scotland's dominant crime group, the Lyons. The operation, which involved simultaneous actions in Motherwell, Scotland, and the Malaga and Barcelona areas of Spain, focused on high-level involvement in serious organised crime, including drugs and money laundering. This inquiry predates recent gangland feuds and murders, including the killings of two senior Lyons members in May. Officers from Europol, the Netherlands, Türkiye, and the United Arab Emirates also provided support, with significant assets seized in Türkiye.
