Thomas Piketty's lab proposes ambitious plan to cut global inequality and curb climate change 04.06.2026

Thomas Piketty’s World Inequality Lab (WIL), based in Paris, has unveiled an ambitious plan dubbed the "Global Justice Report," published on June 4. This report, authored by 45 researchers and drawing from the WIL’s extensive inequality database, proposes solutions to simultaneously address global inequality and the climate crisis. The initiative directly counters rising nationalist-populist and climate-skeptic movements, offering an alternative to dystopian futures where technological advancements exacerbate poverty. The WIL's co-directors, Lucas Chancel and Thomas Piketty, emphasize the need for an appealing, egalitarian vision to win a cultural battle against what they describe as "Silicon Valley technoreactionaries" and to promote internationalist ideals.
