Elections for the new Reis-ul-ulem of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina were announced on April 18 this year, and the final decision on the candidates will be made by the Assembly of the Islamic Community at a session scheduled for September 5. The current Reis-ul-ulem, Husein ef. Kavazović, cannot run for re-election because, according to the Constitution of the Islamic Community in BiH, an individual is limited to a maximum of two consecutive terms, a limit he has already reached.
