Three Chinese nationals have been fined RM5,000 each after pleading guilty to online gambling on FIFA World Cup 2026 matches at the George Town Magistrates Court in Penang. Gao Yue, 25, Ma Yucheng, 27, and Ma Wenlyu, 32, entered their guilty pleas before Magistrate Nadratun Naim Mohd Said on Friday, July 3, after the charges were read to them in Mandarin. The trio was arrested at The Light Collection 1, Jalan Pantai Sinaran, Gelugor, at approximately 4:30 p.m. on June 26, as part of Ops Soga, a nationwide police crackdown on illegal sports betting and online gambling during the World Cup.
