TIB seeks PM’s backing to host 2028 Anti-Corruption Conference in Bangladesh 07.05.2026

Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) Executive Director Iftekharuzzaman met with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman to propose hosting the 2028 International Anti-Corruption Conference in Bangladesh. This initiative aims to showcase Bangladesh's strong commitment to combating corruption and improve its global image. The Prime Minister expressed positive reception to TIB's recommendations on good governance and anti-corruption reforms, including potential restructuring of institutions like the Anti-Corruption Commission. While the Prime Minister has agreed in principle, the final decision to host the conference will require cabinet approval. The International Anti-Corruption Conference is held biennially, with the 2024 event scheduled for the Dominican Republic, and Bangladesh would be the fourth Asian country to potentially host it.
