Two individuals in the Yonne region of France are facing legal consequences after creating and sharing a TikTok video that falsely depicted them eating a cat. The video, which showed a distressed cat in a bowl and a skull on a plate, was flagged by the PHAROS platform, leading to a gendarmerie investigation. While the animal was not consumed and the skull belonged to a rabbit, the staged cruelty was intended to gain views. Both individuals, who admitted to going too far, will appear in court and face potential fines of 800 euros, along with six-month bans from owning pets and using social media.
