'Time to say goodbye': US judge releases apparent Epstein suicide note 21h ago

A federal judge in the Southern District of New York unsealed a handwritten note attributed to Jeffrey Epstein on May 6, approximately seven years after the disgraced financier was found dead in a Manhattan jail. The note, which has not been authenticated, expresses the writer's satisfaction with choosing his own departure and dismisses the investigation against him as yielding "nothing." This document was unsealed in response to a petition from The New York Times, with the judge having overseen the case of Epstein's former cellmate, Nicholas Tartaglione. Epstein's death on August 10, 2019, occurred while he awaited sex trafficking charges, and the note is believed to have been written in July 2019 following an earlier apparent suicide attempt, which Epstein attributed to Tartaglione.
