Fenech stands accused of complicity in the murder, with prosecutors alleging he conceived the plot, provided €150,000 in financing, and pressured the hitmen to execute the crime quickly. During the opening statement, Attorney General lawyer Anthony Vella asserted that Caruana Galizia would not have been killed without Fenech's direct involvement.
