Tinubu Seeks Senate Confirmation Of Tegbe As Minister, Umar As NMDPRA CEO 05.05.2026

President Bola Tinubu has formally requested that the Nigerian Senate confirm Joseph Tegbe as the new Minister of Power, following the resignation of Adebayo Adelabu, who departed to pursue a gubernatorial bid in Oyo State. During Tuesday’s plenary session, Senate President Godswill Akpabio read the official communication, which also included the nominations of Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye as Minister of State and Rabiu Abdullahi Umar as CEO of the NMDPRA. Citing Section 147(2) of the 1999 Constitution, the President urged prompt legislative action. Tegbe, a former senior partner at KPMG Africa with 35 years of experience, previously served as the Director General of the Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership, bringing extensive expertise in fiscal policy, institutional transformation, and economic governance to his new federal appointment.
