Joshua Dylan Trethewey, 34, allegedly forced entry into their home, stabbing Di in the chest and Keith in the abdomen. Despite his severe injuries, Keith Blessing bravely fought back, using a kitchen knife and later a rifle to subdue Trethewey, who was shot in the stomach. Both Blessings were airlifted to Gold Coast University Hospital in critical condition and underwent emergency surgery.
