Téléphonie : Plus d’un smartphone sur cinq est reconditionné (et leur proportion va encore augmenter) 23.02.2026

In France, the refurbished smartphone market is experiencing significant growth, with 22% of all smartphones now being pre-owned, a substantial increase from 7% in 2018, according to Recommerce's 2025 Barometer. A majority of French consumers, 45%, have previously owned a refurbished smartphone, and 53% plan to purchase one in the future, with this figure rising to 60% among 16-34 year olds. Price remains the primary driver for 72% of buyers, followed by environmental concerns at 36%. Consumers are increasingly turning to professionals for these purchases, with operators being the preferred channel at nearly 30%. Despite this positive trend, some barriers persist, including misconceptions about warranties and concerns regarding device lifespan, though legal guarantees are comparable to new devices.
