Témoin de la fin de vie de sa mère, elle défend « la liberté de choisir sa mort quand la vie est devenue insupportable » 23.02.2026

Maryvonne Bardou, a 77-year-old resident of Laval, Mayenne, advocates for the right to choose one's death when life becomes unbearable, drawing from her experience witnessing her mother's difficult passing in 2018. Bardou, who suffers from significant physical limitations due to past accidents, believes individuals should have the freedom to die with dignity, citing her mother's inoperable cancer and subsequent deep sedation as a painful ordeal. She is a member of the Association for the Right to Die with Dignity (ADMD 53) and hopes lawmakers debating end-of-life legislation, including a bill on assisted dying, will consider this fundamental choice. This personal testimony emerges as French deputies begin a second reading of two end-of-life texts, with a vote expected on February 24, 2026.
