On June 30, Kazakhstan's bicameral parliament of the eighth convocation concluded its work, which experts characterize as extremely conservative. Over three years, deputies supported a series of controversial initiatives, including the irrevocable culling of stray dogs and the enshrining of norms protecting "traditional values" in the Constitution. The parliamentarians themselves insist that they focused on a social agenda: reducing regional inequality, housing guarantees, and the protection of entrepreneurs.
