Toronto police are scheduled to provide an update Thursday morning on a shooting that occurred outside the U.S. Consulate in late July. Chief Myron Demkiw and Chief Superintendent Joe Matthews will address the media at 11 a.m. regarding the incident that took place around 4:46 a.m. on July 27. An officer stationed near the consulate at 360 University Ave. heard a gunshot, and evidence including a single shell casing and damage to the building's facade was found. A white Honda Accord with no license plates was seen speeding away, leading to a high-speed chase along Gerrard Street East and the Don Valley Parkway, with speeds exceeding 140 km/h. The chase was terminated near Don Mills Road per police protocol. No injuries were reported, and two security personnel were inside the consulate at the time.
