In the summer of 2025, a detainee at the Saint-Brieuc prison in Côtes-d’Armor, identified as Alcide S., utilized his professional plumbing skills to clear clogged pipes within the facility. This "minor maintenance" work is part of ongoing renovation efforts at the prison, which began in 2023. Alcide S., who was incarcerated from April 25 to November 14, 2025, for conjugal violence, was later transferred to Brest prison after making threats against staff. The 35-year-old detainee, who holds a N3P2 professional qualification in plumbing and heating, expressed that he found his professional path after his last release from prison over six years ago.
