According to data from the Environment Agency, greenhouse gas emissions from traffic decreased by approximately 18 percent during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, and the air was significantly cleaner. Tadej Žaucer from the Directorate for Transport Policy emphasizes that if only 10 percent of people worked from home 10 percent of the time, emissions would decrease noticeably. Passenger cars account for approximately two-thirds of transport emissions, which contribute one-third of all greenhouse gases in the country. Currently, emission levels have already returned to pre-pandemic levels.
