In a tragic incident that has shocked the Famagusta district, two young children were found dead inside a car in the British base of Dhekelia. The victims, an eight-year-old and a ten-year-old sibling from a Bulgarian family, had been left in the vehicle to sleep while their parents were elsewhere. Emergency services arrived at the scene but could only confirm that the children had already died. The children were discovered by a family member who raised the alarm. Police from the British Sovereign Base Areas are now investigating the circumstances.
