‘Tragic loss’: Junior hockey organizations remember young man killed in Sarnia, Ont. shooting 11.04.2026

Junior hockey organizations across southwestern Ontario are mourning the tragic loss of Dane Nisbet, a young player killed in a shooting at a Lambton College campus bar on Friday, April 10. Nisbet, who most recently played for the North Middlesex Stars of the PJCHL, was also a former player for the Mooretown Flags, Sarnia Legionnaires, and Lambton Jr. Sting AAA. Police responded to the incident and found three injured individuals, one with life-threatening injuries, with Nisbet later succumbing to his injuries in hospital. Nisbet had taken a break from hockey this year to enroll in the Canadian Armed Forces. The shooting has deeply impacted the local community, with multiple teams expressing their condolences and remembering Nisbet for his kindness, determination, and passion for the game. No arrests have been made in connection with the incident.
