Trinamool rebellion reaches Delhi: 20 party MPs plan to form a separate bloc and support NDA 08.06.2026

On June 8, 2026, a significant rebellion within the Trinamool Congress materialized in Delhi, with approximately 20 Lok Sabha MPs reportedly meeting at Union Minister Bhupendra Yadav's residence. These dissenting MPs plan to form a separate bloc and pledge support to the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance government. Barasat MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, recently removed as Trinamool chief whip, is emerging as a leader of this faction and intends to submit a letter to the Lok Sabha Speaker with the signatures of 20 MPs seeking recognition for their bloc. This development follows a similar rebellion among Trinamool MLAs, who elected Ritabrata Banerjee as their new Leader of Opposition. The move by the MPs occurred concurrently with a meeting of Trinamool chairperson Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee at an INDIA bloc gathering.
