Trump says he will nominate acting AG Todd Blanche to permanently lead Justice Department 04.06.2026

President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday evening that he intends to nominate acting Attorney General Todd Blanche to permanently lead the Department of Justice. Trump made the declaration in a video shared by White House Deputy Chief of Staff Dan Scavino, filmed during a Rose Garden Club Dinner. Blanche assumed the acting role in early April following the dismissal of former Attorney General Pam Bondi. Trump indicated his intention to make the nomination during a podcast interview released the same day, stating he was pleased with Blanche's performance and had not considered other candidates. The White House issued a statement praising Blanche as an "American patriot" who has "fearlessly fought against the Democrats' unprecedented lawfare campaign." If nominated, Blanche will require Senate confirmation.
