Tshwane seeks stronger partnerships to accelerate housing delivery 02.06.2026

The City of Tshwane is prioritizing stronger partnerships to address its housing backlog and accelerate the delivery of sustainable human settlements. During a human settlements symposium on Tuesday, MMC for housing and human settlements Aaron Maluleka emphasized that no single sector can solve the challenge alone, necessitating collaboration between government, developers, financiers, researchers, and communities. Tshwane aims to become a proactive development enabler by unlocking land, attracting investment, and fostering an environment conducive to faster project implementation. The city plans to release strategic land assets, streamline regulatory processes, and align infrastructure investment with development priorities, shifting towards a coordinated approach focused on integrated communities rather than just housing. A key strategy involves creating bankable projects to attract investors and developing climate-conscious building technologies, with a focus on prioritizing vulnerable groups in development plans.
