Two arrested after four migrant farm workers killed in Italy minivan fire 02.06.2026

Italian police have arrested two Pakistani nationals in connection with the deaths of four migrant farm workers whose bodies were discovered in a minivan fire on Tuesday at a petrol station near a village in the southern Calabria region. CCTV footage reportedly captured the suspects blocking the minivan's doors and igniting the fire. A survivor, an Afghan national, stated that the deceased included three Afghans and one Pakistani. He explained that the attack stemmed from a dispute over transportation money, which the victims refused to pay. The survivor managed to escape by breaking a window. The motive may be linked to ongoing tensions over farm work and accommodation in the area, with reports of 14 similar arson incidents involving Pakistanis in recent months.
