Two fatal crocodile attacks in Lahad Datu within a single week have heightened fears among Sabah residents, who are urging authorities to implement stronger safety measures. On Monday, a 12-year-old boy was killed in Sungai Tegupi after being pulled into the water by a crocodile, witnessed by a neighbor. His body was found at 2pm with wounds on his back and leg. The following day, a 20-year-old man was found dead at Pantai Kampung Mundas, believed to have been attacked while collecting marine catches. He had gone to sea at 7am to check his net and was attacked; his body was discovered at 10am with wounds on his stomach and chest.
