Two liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) tankers, the Shivalik and Nanda Devi, have successfully sailed through the Strait of Hormuz en route to India, offering a crucial reprieve from the country's severe cooking fuel shortages. These vessels, chartered by state-run Indian Oil and owned by Shipping Corp of India, loaded their cargo from Ras Laffan, Qatar. Their transit, reportedly facilitated by a deal between New Delhi and Tehran, comes after nearly two weeks of disruptions in the Persian Gulf waterway due to ongoing conflict. India, the world's second-largest LPG importer, relies heavily on the Middle East for 90% of its supply, making this passage vital for its energy needs.
